Earth Day: Testronic’s Cable Tree Evolves E-Waste Into Eco Art

For 45 years, Earth Day has united the world in the fight to protect our environment. This year’s theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ – wholly apt for Testronic’s Warsaw’s office which has launched a creative recycling scheme centred on discarded power cables.

We don’t just craft solutions with our partners and clients – we can also untangle even the most complicated situations… and cables!

As the amount of electronic waste continues to rise, it’s worth asking on this Earth Day: can we give it a second life?

According to the Global E-waste Monitor 2024 report, 62 billion kilograms of e-waste were generated worldwide in 2022, and this number is expected to rise to 82 billion kg by 2030.

Every year at Testronic, we generate a considerable amount of electronic waste, including damaged cables—thin, thick, colorful, flexible, rigid… what to do with them…?

This is how the idea for our ‘Recycled Cable Tree’ was born—an installation that not only intrigues and engages but also encourages reflection on recycling and resource reuse. Instead of discarding old cables, we transform them into art. It’s our way of combining creativity, sustainability, and fun. Because innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s also about seeing the world from a fresh perspective.

Will our project be inspiring? Will it spark discussions about the circular economy and more sustainable approaches to electronics? We are still exploring the answers, but one thing is certain—our tree is already growing!

We thank our Administration and Environmental Specialist Natalia Sieniewicz and Receptionist Natalia Siwek at our Warsaw office for this brilliant initiative, and we hope that it encourages our partners and clients – and the wider games industry – to consider similar projects.
