Like many companies around the world, Testronic today recognizes and celebrates International Women’s Day. But to us, it’s not just an acknowledgement. EDI is key to our workplace culture and, when it comes to gender diversity, equality and inclusion, we are a proud Corporate Ambassador for Women in Games, supporting this important organization’s initiatives and events.
The United Nation’s theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality’ – which couldn’t be more apt for the games industry.
Here’s what the UN says: “The United Nations Observance of IWD recognizes and celebrates the women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education. IWD 2023 will explore the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities… Bringing women and other marginalized groups into technology results in more creative solutions and has greater potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality.”
In games, we are seeing more women-led game studios, more women in leadership positions and more women and girls joining the industry. But, given that nearly half of all gamers are women and girls, there’s still much that we can all do to show them that a career in games is for them – particularly when we are still seeing gender-based harassment and abuse towards them online.
We are joining the UN’s #PowerOn campaign today to recognize International Women’s Day, but we are also using this Women’s History Month to showcase some of the brilliant Women of Testronic, and highlight their career journeys.
Together we can #PowerOn to make games – and the wider tech industry – more inclusive, equitable and safe for women.
