Development Methods

We have found that the best way to test is by starting the process as early as possible. Defects and bugs are easier to fix and therefore less expensive.

In order to test early in the development process, we need to build your test plan around your chosen development method. We work with all common development methods and are able to tailor the test strategy, including the test plan, with levels and types of testing to the required development method.

Some of the more common software development methods are:

  • V-Model (most traditional)
  • Interactive (Agile)
  • Waterfall

V-Model
With V-Model development, the process steps are bent upwards after the coding phase, to form the typical V shape. The advantages of the V-Model are that it demonstrates the relationships between each phase of the development life cycle and each phase can be implemented after detailed documentation of the previous phase.

Interactive (Agile)
Agile software development refers to an iterative approach where requirements and solutions develop through collaboration between self-organising cross-functional teams.

Waterfall
The waterfall model is a sequential development process, in which development is seen as flowing steadily downwards (like a waterfall) through the phases of requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing (validation), integration, and maintenance. The project is divided into sequential phases with some overlap and regression between phases and there is considerable emphasis on planning, documentation and signoff.

At Testronic Labs, we can tailor our test plans to work seamlessly alongside whichever method of software development you choose. For further information on any of our QA consultancy services, please contact us.
