Interoperability

Testronic’s industry leading Interoperability Services cover the gamut of low level communication methodologies.

USB

An effective verification process is an essential step in successful USB development. In this process, it is not only important to verify your design versus the USB specification, but it is also vital to know how your design interoperates in a real user scenario. If a product does not enumerate on certain Hub or Host Controllers, for example, you need to know. This type of knowledge can actually save you time and money.

That is why Testronic offers an Extended Gold Suite IOP Test that goes beyond the interoperability test in the USB-IF Certification Program. The Extended Gold Suite IOP Test will provide you with insight to possible compatibility, functionality, and interoperability issues before a product is released. You can ensure a successful launch by having a better understanding of any potential flaws in design, where those flaws originate, and how your devices will perform on the.

The objective of the Extended Gold Suite IOP Test is to check USB interoperability issues, focusing on the USB behavior of the device on a range of different USB configurations. The tests are based on generic test plans and do not focus on the in-depth functionality and interoperability of the device. That approach is offered in Testronic’s standard USB IOP tests.

DLNA

For the extended DLNA IOP Test, our engineers check correct discovery in the Home Network environment and correct operations of Play, Stop, Pause/ Pause-Release, Seek, and Trick Modes.  A wide range of DLNA products will be used during the interoperability test to verify proper operation worldwide.

MirrorLink

It is vital in a car ecosystem that any MirrorLink-enabled smartphone interoperates with any MirrorLink-enabled vehicle system. Therefore Testronic developed the MirrorLink Extended Interoperability Service, which verifies interoperability between different MirrorLink server devices and MirrorLink client devices.

Qi

Once a Qi product passes a three part compliance test, it should be interoperable with all other Qi products. In order to eliminate any possibility of Qi products not working together, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) mandates interoperability testing with ALL previously certified products before a new product certificate is issued. We are proud to say that the WPC has designated Testronic as the only testing center eligible to do this work. We maintain a library of all certified Qi products for just this purpose. Prior to interoperability testing, a product must undergo official compliance testing conducted by a Qi Authorized Test Lab.

Commercial Qi Interoperability Pre-Testing

Our Qi Interoperability Pre-Test Service allows WPC members to test interoperability of their Qi designs against the complete Qi-Certified products list. With this pre-test service, WPC members are able to greatly increase their chance of passing the official Qi Interoperability Test the very first time.

Does your product behave correctly with a completely drained or fully charged battery? Are different placements between a Rx/Tx product correctly handled or does the complete charging cycle stay uninterrupted? These end-user situations can all be determined in the Qi Interoperability Pre-Test, which can be developed or extended following your personal needs.

With the Qi Interoperability Pre-Test Service, you don’t have to wait until the final stage of development for fixes and critical modifications in your Qi implementation. Our service will allow you to maintain critical mass-production timelines and will provide you with insight to possible compatibility, functionality, and interoperability issues prior to releasing your product to the market.

Disclaimer

I. Qi Interoperability Testing does not guarantee that products are Qi compliant.

II.  Testronic’s Qi pre-test report may not be used to publicly claim interoperability with the Qi specification.

HDMI

Testronic is uniquely positioned to verify HDMI interoperability on a wide range of iDTVs from the major manufacturers.  Testing ranges from detaching and re-attaching the HDMI interface, to checking proper detection after powering up the source or sink device, to determining how your product reacts when different cable lengths are used. HDMI test scenarios can be amended to follow your unique needs.

iDTV Interoperability Testing

With the increasing importance of feature-rich iDTVs in the home, many of Testronic’s clients, including Operators, System Integrators, CE Device manufacturers, Web Service companies, and Content Owners, have an active interest in learning about the interoperability of their services and devices with the iDTV market.

Major European Digital Television Operators want to assess the HDMI interoperability of their Set-Top Boxes against the iDTV market, Content Owners want to assure their media assets are compatible with the iDTV market, and everyone is interested in how iDTV will work with internet and DLNA services in the home, USB interoperability, and WiFi router interoperability.

With that in mind, Testronic developed our own iDTV Interoperability Program. It covers a wide representation of iDTV platforms from different vendors, managed by Testronic in an iDTV interoperability test pool. We encourage all iDTV vendors to join the Testronic iDTV Interoperability Program and have their platforms represented. A solid, varied, global representation of iDTV platforms provides an appealing opportunity for Third Party Services/Stakeholders to verify their product interoperates with the iDTV platforms available on the market. On the other side, participating iDTV vendors will get feedback and results from the Third Party Service/Stakeholder product tests for pairings with their platform.  The result of our iDTV Interoperability Program – an attractive interoperability program for all parties involved.

Testronic Focuses on the Following Technologies:
  • CI+
  • HDMI
  • DLNA
  • USB
  • WiFi
  • IEEE802.3
  • SCART
  • S-Video
  • Composite Video – Composite Audio
  • SPDIF
  • PC/ VGA IN
  • DVI

When needed, Testronic can focus on different technologies or iDTV interoperability testing criteria to suite your unique needs.

Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL)

In order to ensure confidence in the Windows experience, Microsoft developed a comprehensive Windows Logo Program. Vendor products that successfully complete the Windows Logo Program Testing are awarded the Microsoft Certified Logo, which allows customers to identify compatible products that are designed for ease of use, better performance, and enhanced security.

With our extensive experience, Testronic’s WHQL Pre-Certification Program gives you the opportunity to get your product Certified for Windows in a short timeframe and with a high degree of confidentially.  In the event that a product does not pass WHQL Pre-Certification, our dedicated test engineers can help you debug the problem.

A Verisign ID is assigned when your product is submitted. After we run the test, we will provide you with cpk files which you need to upload. If needed, we will guide you through the test result upload process.
